Introducing Telford Chiropractor and Clinic Founder Dr. Brian Gwilliam
Dr. Brian Gwilliam, Clinic Founder
A career in engineering may seem like an odd background for a chiropractor, but my interest in chiropractic began in the late 1940s, and I never thought I’d get the chance to make it my life’s work.
But here I am, more than 60 years later, and still working at the clinic I started, even though it’s now just a few days a week on a semi-retired basis.
I became interested in chiropractic after it helped my father, when more conventional treatments failed, and when I experienced the benefits of treatment for myself.
Training was easier said than done because all the chiropractic centres were in North America and Canada – so I became a mature student at the original chiropractic college in Iowa.
And on my return, I worked with other chiropractors to set up the first college outside North America – The Anglo European College on the south coast. I also became a founder member of the Sacro Occipital Technique Organisation (Europe) and am still involved in helping graduates to continue their training.
I live with my wife of 46 years, Anne, who was very closely involved in the setting up and running of the Wellington clinic, and have one son, two daughters, and eight grandchildren.
